A teleidoscope is a specific type of kaleidoscope that uses a clear marble at the end of the mirror system instead of an object cell. Simply point a teleidoscope at anything of interest and the mirror system inside will make a kaleidoscopic pattern of whatever you see. To make this scope Peter Berube layers birch wood of various stains, then turns it on a lathe to create a teardrop shape. It was impossible to photograph the entire image, but the background photo gives an idea of what you'll see when you point this little beauty at the the world around you. It has a 3-mirror system and measures 4 1/2" by 2 1/4". Great gift idea!
